This Conference invites a number of representatives from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and guests from frontiers of both academic and business communities in China or abroad. By integrating major theoretical frameworks and methodologies from data science, financial technology, management, economics, etc., the participants will focus on the innovative application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence as well as business analytics. The purpose of the conference is to enhance collaborations and understandings between research institutes in GBA and top international schools, to boost the integrated development among Big Data, Fintech, and business analysis, and to deepen the ties between business studies and scientific research resources.

Keynote Speakers

Jun Tu

Professor Jun Tu is the Associate Professor of Finance (tenured, from July 2012) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Visiting Professor at SABS. Prof. Tu has served as the center director for the Centre for Asset Securitisation and Management in Asia at SMU from 2012 to 2014. He has been serving as Associate Editor for Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control (2018 - present) and Associate Editor for the Emerging Markets Finance and Trade(SSCI journal)(2015 - present). In addition, prior to SMU, he was studying as a Finance PhD student at Washington University in St. Louis. His main research interests are in Behavioral Finance, Empirical Asset Pricing, FinTech, Corporate Finance, Media and Asset markets, Big Data and Machine Learning, Textual Analysis, Financial Econometrics, International Finance. He is a receiver of several awards, including The Most-Cited Paper Reward (2015-2016) at Review of Financial Studies, Lee Foundation Fellowship for Research Excellence at SMU, Sing Lun Fellowship, Pacific Basin Finance Journal Prize (First Prize), and Research Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. His research articles have been published in top academic journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Management Science. In addition, Prof. Tu has presented his research to industry leaders, academic experts, and government regulators at various places. Several of his high-impact research papers investigate financial topics (securities, currency, real estates, etc.) about China. Since 2007, Prof. Tu has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. students that hold positions in first-class universities in the U.S., Australia, China, etc.

Donghui Li

Prof Donghui Li is Professor in Finance in College of Economics of Shenzhen University. Prof Li gained his doctorate degree in finance from the University of New South Wales in 2001. He used to work in finance department in the University of New South Wales. His research interest focuses on corporate micro-finance, corporate governance, risk management and insurance, the operation of financial institutions, etc. About 20 of his research articles have been published in top academic journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, as well as Economics Research Journal, Management World in China. He is also an anonymous review expert for many international SSCI journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Risk and Insurance, International Review of Finance, Corporate Governance: An International Review, etc.

Wilson Tong

Prof Wilson Tong is Professor in Finance in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Visiting Professor at SABS. He has been engaged in financial theory and empirical research for many years. His main research areas include corporate privatization, mergers and acquisitions, and securities investment in Chinese and other emerging markets. Professor Tong’s research on the privatization of listed companies in China was published in the International Top Financial Journals Journal of Financial Economics in 2003. The paper has been widely quoted, up to now, the paper has been cited over 1,000 times. Professor Tong’s research on foreign investment in China has been published in the internationally renowned financial journal Journal of International Money and Finance, and has been ranked first among the 25 articles with the highest citation rate since 1982. His research on mergers and acquisitions, managerial compensation design, corporate governance, stock public offering and allotment, bond premium and other financial fields has been published many times in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management , etc. Until now, Professor Tong has published 30 papers.

Kaixiang Zhang

Mr Kaixiang Zhang is Blockchain Chief Architect in WeBank, as well as FISCO BCOS Open Source Blockchain Platform Architect. Mr. Zhang has been working in Internet and Finance for many years, and he has rich experience in distributed systems and mass service. He started to focus on blockchain technology and research in 2015. He has presided over programs on FISCO BCOS's underlying blockchain platform design, and operated technology open source community, promoted and implemented multiple applications in finance and many other fields.

Tanjim Hossain

Tanjim Hossain is an Associate Professor in Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. His main research interests include behavioral economics and industrial organizations, especially using field experiments and laboratory experiments to test the validity of theory in predicting behavior in real life. He currently serves as an associate editor for Management Science. His research papers have been published in many international renowned journals, such as Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, American Economic Review, Management Science, and RAND Journal of Economics, and have been featured in news media including The Economist and USA Today.

Hongtao Shen

Dr. Shen Hongtao is the Professor of Accounting in the School of Management, Jinan University. She is also the Deputy Director of the Research Centre for Low-Carbon Economy. She currently is the committee member of Environmental Accounting in Accounting Society of China and the editorial board member of Accounting Research (in Chinese) and China Journal of Accounting Studies (in English). Dr. Shen is also a recipient of "National Academic Leading Talent in Accounting" and enrolled in the first cohort of the National Leading Accounting Talents Program (LATP, academic) trainees by the Chinese Ministry of Finance. Dr. Shen’s research interests are primarily in social and environmental accounting, including CSR and environmental auditing, information disclosure of social and environmental performance, carbon emission accounting, and green finance. She has achieved three Grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, among others. Her publications include over ten academic journal articles both in Chinese and English such as Journal of Financial Research, Accounting Research Nankai Business Review, International Journal of Auditing, etc. She is also the author of the book of Environmental Information Disclosure: Theory and Evidence (in Chinese). Dr. Shen has taught several flagship programs at both undergraduate- and graduate-levels. She has been awarded for several teaching grants at the provincial level. She has also worked as an independent director for several publicly listed companies and been active in providing social, consulting, and training services for businesses and public institutions.

Xiaping Cao

Prof Xiaping Cao is Professor, PhD supervisor, Dean of Southern Science and Technology Research Institute of Finance, Director and leading talent in MIT Guangzhou Innovation Center. He received his doctorate degree in Finance from Boston College in 2008. Prof Cao was assistant professor in finance at Singapore Management University from August 2008 to June 2016. He served as Dean of Asia Private Equity Institute (Jointly establish by Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and Singapore Management University) from September 2011 to August 2015. In June 2016, he was introduced as one of overseas talents in Hundred Talents Program of Sun Yat-sen University. His research interests include listing financing, IPO system, shareholding structure, etc. He has published many related monographs and has rich research experience in the development of China's financial market and the financial industry. Prof Cao has published more than ten papers in international top financial academic journals. He has served as a guest reviewer for famous journals. He has won many awards in China and abroad, including the Singapore Management University Academic Research Award for seven consecutive years from 2009, the Best Paper Award for the Asian Private Equity Academy, the Carlyle Group Academic Research Award, the University of Western Ontario Academic Research Award, and many others Best Paper Awards. From 2008 to 2015, he has been a keynote speaker at the Public Finance Seminar of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Securities Investor Protection Association, and as a guest at the "My Money Talk" seminar organized by the Singapore Banking Association and the Securities Investors Association. His articles have been cited by various world-renowned media, such as The Wall Street Journal, Business Weekly, The Economist, The New York Times. He has frequently been at international TV stations as a special guest to explain economic and financial knowledge, such as Singapore Asia News Channel, Singapore Media TV Chinese Channel, etc.
